Third person shooters are no new phenomena but as technology has change so quickly in the last few years, online war games are making leaps and bounds. Zipper Interactive announced the released of their second title within a one year period in the lucrative online war game genre.
SOCOM 4 Video Game Trailer With Director Commentary
The makers of the large online multiplayer game MAG are set to release another title in the upcoming future. Zipper Interactive sent out a mass e-mail to PS3 users, advertizing SOCOM 4 with a free game trailer. The trailer starts with the view of a burning aircraft carrier, moves to a firefight in an urban scene, and gives gamers a sneak peak of the squad that single player storyline is based upon.
SOCOM 4 Single Player Game Play
Why some gamers may have been disappointed that MAG did not contain a single player game mode, Jeremy Dunham, Zipper Interactive, wrote in his blog about SOCOM 4’ that the single player story line will be complex. The story will be based on the experience of a Navy squad trapped in South Asia. The characters in SOCOM 4 are a diverse bunch, including a woman. This is not common in the storylines of recent military shooters.
SOCOM 4 Online Multiplayer Game Play
Zipper Interactive has confirmed that there would be a multiplayer mode for SOCOM 4 and that rooms that would host up to 32 players says Dunham. This is not as many players as MAG' but it is almost twice as many players than any of the multiplayer game modes in Modern Warfare 2.
Dedication to MAG’ Online Server
Fans of MAG may worry what will become of the 256 player online shooter. Dunham stated that they are “still fully committed to supporting MAG for a long, long time and the addition of another game in our lineup doesn’t change that.”
SOCOM 4 Release Date
At this point no firm date has been set on the release for SOCOM 4, but it has been announced that it will be sometime in the "Fall of 2010", Ryan Geddes Wrote in his IGN article.
